Chris Newman quits Electric Funeral

Fan-favorite heavy rock drummer, Chris Newman, left Electric Funeral with the parting shot, “I’m through with Black Sabbath.” Electric Funeral will soldier on with the phenomenal rock/jazz drummer, Liz Daniels.

Meanwhile the rumored Sweet Leaf reunion show will go ahead with Newman and Electric Funeral singer, Lance Ozanix. Former Testament member, Steve Smyth, will play guitar and professional musician Steve Hoffman will play bass.

Sweet Leaf will play the Last Day Saloon in Santa Rosa on Sunday June 10th. The gig is being billed as the last for the renowned quartet. A source close to the band has said that Sweet Leaf will play “two or three” Sabbath songs over Newman’s objections, but will mainly play Ozzy songs from the Randy Rhoads era. The band is not expected to perform any Zakk Wylde songs but may play tunes off of “Bark at the Moon”.

The show is all-ages, from 2pm to 7pm and is $8.
